MADE IT: Striped Terra-Cotta Pots

My succulents were looking a little plain Jane on my last post so I decided they needed some accessorizing. I got some Terra Cotta pots at home depot and wanted to spruce them up with some white tops. Once home, I also whipped out my pale pink paint and some copper acrylic. The copper, well, it didn’t photograph well. It pretty much looks exactly like the all white top planter. It shines bright on my living room, so, I’m still a happy camper. The pale pink stripe gave a nice delicate touch to the spiky rugged plant. I left one in all white that I plan to bring to my nightstand. As I did it on a whim, I have no step-by-step. But, it’s easy enough.

HOW TO

Line half of the pot with blue painter’s tape. Then, tape the remaining bottom. Do this on all your planters so you can paint them all at once. Then, line them up on top of some newspaper or old magazines. Spray paint the sides first and then the rim. Be sure to keep a distance so the paint does not start to drip. You don’t want to get it completely white on the first try. Spray gradually to get a nice consistent layer. I used this paint and it worked wonders. Fast drying and smooth. If you’re willing to try the extra line, be sure your pots are EXTRA dry before lining them with blue tape again.
